Garamvári Estate is a true family business, shaped and driven by the combined efforts of 3 generations.
The story of our company began with Vencel Garamvári, who graduated from the University of Horticulture, faculty of oenology in 1966, and started his career in the largest sparkling wine factory in Hungary, which he left as commercial director. In 1990, he and a few enthusiastic and innovative partners founded Vinarium, a company dedicated to representing premium wineries and marketing their wines.
Soon, however, we set our sights on making our own wines and sparkling wines, and in 1993 the company bought its first vineyards in the Balatonboglár and Balatonlelle areas of the South Balaton region. By 1996, the family had also acquired the cellar in Sörház Street in Budafok, which provided the perfect opportunity for sparkling wine production: after renovating and equipping the almost 5,000 m2 underground site with an ideal temperature, we began to produce our sparkling wines using the “méthode traditionnelle” or Champagne technique. The first ones were released in 1999 under the name of Chateau Vincent.
Today, 3 generations work together at Garamvári Estate. Vencel, who is still actively involved, and his wife Zsuzsa have laid the foundations: both professionally and in terms of values, which the next generations of the family build on, develop, and innovate. At the same time, they preserve and cherish the traditions on which they – and the estate – have grown up.
It is the unity of 3 generations working together, tradition, experience, and innovation that drives our estate forward. Evolution and development never stop, and year after year we strive to offer even better, even more perfect wines and sparkling wines.
This is the Garamvári family. Tradition and evolution.
