EGRET WHITE WINES

This range of ours with redesigned labels was inspired by the native bird of the Balaton region, the white egret. This dainty, snowwhite bird nests in the South-Balaton, in a sometimes intact environment, and is frequently seen as flying over the vine plantations around our winery.

We make our wine on these loess-soiled hills of excellent qualities.

Most of the white wines of the selection follow a light, reductive trend, where the chilled tank fermentation and maturation on fine lees is followed by an early bottling to preserve the primary grape character within.

CHARDONNAY

/single vinyard Magyal, Hosszú/
dry white wine

CHARACTERISTICS

We harvest this variety originated in France, most common in Champagne and Burgundy in single vinyards Magyal and Hosszú, around Balatonboglár. They often mention Chardonnay as a variety having thousand faces, today we find it almost everywhere. Wines made from its grapes is featured by primary notes, it follows the light trend of reductive technology. It was fermented and aged in tank, striving to show the most of Chardonnay’s characteristics.

In the nose it aligns the aromas of tropical fruits and vanilla; namely those of bananas, grapefruit and passion fruit, while it is fresh and spicy.

SAUVIGNON BLANC

/single vinyard Istvándi, Berkes/
dry, white wine

CHARACTERISTICS

This variety originated in the French Loire Valley we cultivate in single vinyards Istvándi and Berkes. Peculiar to the variety is that is shows distinct characteristics in different phenological states. Thus, following the different states of grape ripeness we picked three different harvest times. The wine that comes from the early ripening phase is characterised by the scent of green grass, and freshness, the one that comes from the middle phase features notes of gooseberry, while the one that comes from the late harvest period is unequivocally full-bodied. The ready-made wine is born out of the blending of these three trends.

BOUQUET AND AROMAS

The bouquet and aromas of our Sauvignon Blanc are lent by notes from green apple and nettle, its taste features the harmony of fine acids, goosberry and citric characteristics.

RECOMMENDED CONSUMPTION

We recommend its consumption accompanying fish and asparagus, chilled to 10-12 Celsius.

PINOT GRIS

/single vinyard Botné/
dry, white wine

CHARACTERISTICS

Pinot Gris, in its common Hungarian name „Szürkebarat” is a traditional grape veriety of the Balaton Wine Region. The grapes come from our southern single vinyard called Botné in Balatonboglár. At harvest we aim at a concentration of 20 MM, since at this stage the skin of the berries shows its bluish hue. A swift elaboration is needed in order to avoid the wine showing rose notes. We usually apply reductive technology – fermented and matured in tanks -, though, our distinct vintages receive an oak-aging as well.

BOUQUET AND AROMAS

It is a white wine reminiscent in bouquet of apple, pear and almonds, with spicy aromas.

RECOMMENDED CONSUMPTION

We recommend it to taste with poultry dishes and pasta, chilled to 10-12 Celsius.

MUSCAT
